Samurai Shiatsu with Svenja
Be strong like a Samurai - learn Samurai Shiatsu!
The Samurai Programme(SP) teaches children about mindful touch and becoming body aware. It helps to improve posture, clear the head, thus enabling children to have renewed energy for concentrating and learning. Children learn Shiatsu moves to calm down and to re-energise the body, supporting them to find ways to deal with stress and anxiety.
Learning how to help and serve others is 'becoming' a Samurai in the true sense (Samurai not only meaning warrior, but servant). Respect is a central theme of the SP and children always ask permission from their partner before they touch them. Japanese culture and language provide the framework for session structure and children love the story of Kooko and Hanako who are students at a Samurai school.

About Svenja
Svenja Schaper is a Shiatsu practitioner/teacher and former primary school teacher who met Karin Kalbantner-Wernicke and Thomas Wernicke in 2012 when they talked about the introduction of the SP in Germany. Feeling passionate about the self-help and grassroot aspect of Shiatsu, Svenja trained as a Samurai Programme trainer and brought Karin to the UK to teach the SP. Svenja has taught the SP in mainstream classes, at after school clubs and to children with speech, language and communication difficulties. She also taught parent/child courses to bring Shiatsu touch into the community. The Samurai taster workshop at the Shiatsu Festival is for children aged 5 - 12 years and their families - come and have fun with Kooko and Hanako!
